Peak TV” is not a myth. There’s a lot of damn fine shows to watch essentially all year round these days, which makes selecting these superlatives both easier and more difficult. I obviously can only watch so much, so there’s a hundred percent chance I’ve missed something or somethings. Thankfully the list below is completely subjective and doesn’t actually matter. So without further ado, here’s my picks for the best of 2016.

Last weekend I drove from New Jersey to Indianapolis and back to see Penn State play in the Big Ten Championship game. It wasn’t something I initially planned to do, but after I was able to get my hands on some reasonably priced tickets and was offered a couch to sleep on by some friends in Ohio, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. So in less than a week I went from browsing StubHub to driving over 1,400 miles for a football game.

Now on one hand this is good news for Nashville fans since it seems to indicate that a fifth season is likely; however, handing over the reins of a TV show can seriously alter the tone of a show, for better or worse.
