It’s been another busy year of watching TV. Some beloved shows bid adieu, some jumped the shark, others enjoyed a creative resurgence, and many new excellent shows were added to my watchlist. To celebrate, here’s my ‘best of’ list for 2015. As always, this list is both subjective and ultimately meaningless. Cheers to the new year!
Last weekend I marathoned Jessica Jones and ever since the final credits rolled late Sunday night I’ve been wracking my brain trying to figure out why exactly I so thoroughly enjoyed Marvel’s newest Netflix series. It’s true that I’m probably predisposed to like anything with a strong female lead, but liking and loving are two different things. And there’s a lot of things to like about this show, including how well Jessica Jones depicts addition and control, the acting, it’s noir style, and even how this show and Supergirl can both exist and both be good.
In the coming weeks a new crop of TV shows will be released upon the world. Most will debut on the broadcast networks as they most commonly adhere to the traditional TV schedule. However, the Fall TV season isn’t exclusive to the standard channels. New TV can be found just about anywhere these days, and in fact the three new shows I’m most excited about are courtesy of Starz, Amazon, and Netflix.
