At some point TBS quietly amassed a solid line-up of original programming. No longer just the home for reruns of Family Guy and The Big Bang Theory, TBS currently boasts a late night talk show, a weekly news satire program, an array of live action single cam comedies, and more.
After playing the Full Frontal with Samantha Bee ticket lottery for months, my name was finally drawn for one of their March live tapings. Of course, just like my experience with Last Week Tonight, the tickets opened up last minute, but inconvenience be damned I didn’t want to pass up the opportunity. So off to the city I went, on a weeknight no less.
“Peak TV” is not a myth. There’s a lot of damn fine shows to watch essentially all year round these days, which makes selecting these superlatives both easier and more difficult. I obviously can only watch so much, so there’s a hundred percent chance I’ve missed something or somethings. Thankfully the list below is completely subjective and doesn’t actually matter. So without further ado, here’s my picks for the best of 2016.
