Veronica Mars is Back Again

Veronica Mars is back again, and how sweet it is. Last week Hulu and Kristen Bell surprised fans by dropping the fourth season a full week early! (Planned viewing parties be damned.) I already binge watched all eight episodes, and I have A LOT of feelings but instead of healthily processing that ending, I wanted to throw it back to that time The CW cancelled the show.

Weird, I know, but as I was recently packing to move I found the following letter from The CW (see below). You see, despite realistically knowing that fan campaigns do not work (unless real money is on the line like in a Kickstarter campaign), I still mailed The CW marshmallows along with a letter asking them to save the show when it was initially cancelled back in 2007.

CW Veronica Mars Letter

Knowing my efforts were most likely futile, I still got a kick out of at least being a nuisance, I mean who wants to deal with large shipments of Mars bars and marshmallows plus an onslaught of letters ranging from impassioned to angry? Was the campaign effective – no, was it annoying – I sure hope so.

Anyhow, weeks after I mailed my letter I received an impersonal one in return – complete with a canned response. My favorite part of which is the line, “Regrettably, that run has come to an end.” as if The CW didn’t have the power to change the show’s fate.

In hindsight I love that line even more though because Veronica Mars has lived on – first in a follow-up fan-funded movie, then in two novels, and most recently of course on Hulu. Plus, the revival really left the door wide-open for even more sleuthing and snarkiness and Kristen Bell has been quoted saying, “I will do Veronica Mars until it’s Murder, She Wrote.”

So happy viewing fellow marshmallows, let’s all take a moment to enjoy this victory and cheers to Veronica Mars, a show who’s run has thankfully not yet come to an end.
